Maryland Lt. Governor Anthony Brown reportedly is under "serious consideration" for a post in President-Elect Barack Obama's cabinet.
National Journal quotes sources close to the transition effort who say Brown is being vetted for the post of Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
The Baltimore Sun reports that Brown's spokesman declined to comment on the report.
Brown, 47, is a colonel in the Army Reserve and served a 10-month tour of duty in Iraq in 2004 and 2005.
He was House Majority Whip, when Martin O'Malley chose him as his running mate in 2006.
