Poll: 41 Percent Say Caroline Kennedy Not Qualified for Senate

Wednesday, December 24, 2008 7:30 AM

NEW YORK – Voters in New York state are divided on whether Caroline Kennedy should serve as their next senator, and she has work to do to win over more conservative rural voters, a new poll found Tuesday.

The daughter of assassinated president John F. Kennedy is eyeing the Senate seat that Hillary Clinton is giving up to become secretary of state.

The Quinnipiac University survey found 41 percent of state voters thought Kennedy was not qualified to be a senator, while 40 percent said she was qualified.

Forty-eight percent of those asked, however, expected that Gov. David Paterson will name her to the Senate seat.

I'm sure New York has plenty of more qualified and sharp Democrats than her. IMO it's very bold of her to expect party support when she hasn't done all that much for the party. She wouldn't be even considered if it were not for her name.

Caroline Kennedy's arrogant sense of entitlement, and her uncle's and the mayor's political badgering on her behalf, expose the political hypocrisy of these so-called "Democrats." All three of them have no problem in pushing aside "the little people"--in this case, the other potential appointees for the position, many of whom do not come from privileged backgrounds and who have worked for years in public service--in order to solidify their political power base which, they claim, is to work on behalf of the same people they push aside. It's disgusting.

She doesn'tt seem to want to deal with the press or disclose her finances. Kind of like royalty.

Has she had any real job since law school?

So, a small minority (41%)think negative of her, therefore, she wins,
compare that with 80% dis-approval rate for gw bush.

I am sick of the nepotism in the government. I am especially sick of Kennedys, Bushes and Clintons. Let them all go away and let some new blood in, maybe some that will actually care about the country and not so much about their pocketbooks.

Definitely not qualified. If it wasn't for her last name being Kennedy she would not even be considered. The same could be said about the majority of Kennedy's and other aristocratic families. Caroline Kennedy has probably never had to work for a dime in her life and has most likely had everything given to her. She does not relate in any way or form to the common American.

Of course she will most likely win and New York will get another deadbeat senator. I do find it funny however that the seat she is planning to take over was given to the previous person under the same circumstances which was because of their last name and not of their previous records in public service. Bill was a good president, but last i checked Hillary was not really qualified either.

Even though she's not qualified, she'll get the position.

She had a confab with Al Sharpton. I wonder if the name Tawana Brawley came up during the discussion?
