President Obama...man that feels good to say that. Anyway, he is getting right down to action..first by suspending the unAmerican military tribunal trials at Gitmo, which will lead to the eventual closing of that house of horrors within a year.

Yes, a new day has come...and not a moment too soon.

ABC News has learned that soon after being sworn in as 44th President of the United States on Tuesday, President Obama instructed his advisers to move to suspend the military commission trials for suspected terrorists being detained at Guantanamo Bay.

Aides say the president will this week issue an executive order giving the command to close the detainee center at Guantanamo Bay, though the process could take as long as a year to implement.

How unfortunate that we hold to the principle of innocence until proven guilty. If you are willing to chuck over 200 years of legal principle, what separates you from the terrorist, not much I would suspect.

What Obama is doing with this move, is bringing America back to the one of the principals that made her great...the presumption of innocence and the right to a fair trial.

Military tribunals are for dictatorships

I agree with no mercy for terrorists. If these people fought against American soldiers, or attacked or planned to attack the United States they deserve to die. People are in Gitmo because they are terrorists and enemies. They have information we need to prevent further attacks on our civilians and troops. Obama is already pushign his far left, radical liberal agenda and the worst thing is that the left-wing Democrats that now dominate Congress will give him free reign to do all the liberal things he wants.

I sincerely believe Obama used to be just an ordinary guy. His years in the Ivy League elite bubble, his time with the Democrat establishment run by sleezeballs like Hillary, Biden, Kennedy, Pelosi, Reid, Levin and others have made him into the liberal elite. His time with his wife and Rev. WRight no doubt has also made him into a radical left wing liberal.

I just watched the movie, Taxi to the Dark Side which is about the torture in Gitmo. Only 8 percent of those there were terrorists, and Bush and his cronies knew that what they were doing was wrong, and so Bush pardoned himself and those top officals that were part of it, so they couldn't be tried for war crimes. They went against the Genova Convention and against national law. Is that really legal to have made those pardons?

Any one that has not seen the movie should watch it. I got it through Netflix.

They are not un-American, that is the way they are to handle enemy combatants. That is the way it's been done, historically.

I'm confused, first the left wanted these individuals to be protected by the Geneva Convention. Now that we're following the Geneva Convention, they want us to ignore the rules again?
