In business, if you do not meet your revenues, you cut spending. In government
(especially in Minnesota), you raise taxes.

What Tim Pawlenty did will not be popular among some groups wanting money, but that is the budgeting process. How many CEO's are popular with their workers come raise time? Not too many, but if the workers always get what they want the company will go under.

What is worth paying attention to are political candidates who "jump ship" sort of speak in order to salvage or promote their political career.

Here is one example:

Quote:
But Crist's decision to run for the U.S. Senate in 2010 means he most likely won't finish much of that agenda.

Critics and supporters alike say that Crist's signature issues have fallen victim to economic pressures, GOP intransigence or his administration's own lack of follow-through.

Hurricane Charlie!

Quote:
Florida Governor Charlie Crist is running for the U.S. Senate next year, and we wonder if one reason is that he doesn't want to be in Tallahassee when the next hurricane hits his state. His veto of a hurricane insurance reform bill last week all but guarantees a state disaster on top of any wrought by Mother Nature.

He will be lucky to last even through 2012. At this rate he might even get impeached by his own party because he is going to take them all down with him!!!

Yes, he promised he would have us out of Iraq in 16 months, well, so far his clock is ticking and nothing moving.

Economy, how can he fix it, by spending more money like he has and it has not worked?

Everyone except the blind see Obama has an utter FAILURE!

All the messes you refer to were a result of the 2000 and 2004 election. Give Obama more than 6 months to clean up a mess created over 8 years for crying out loud!

Au contraire, ma cherie -

Sanford has simply made himself that much more attractive for a 2012 run now that he has proven himself to be a ladies' man.

But seriously, I think the whole Argentine Affair was fabricated just so that he could gracefully resign as governor and start working on his campaign.

By this theory, there would be quite a few Republican candidates who could become more attractive for 2012 by being either a ladies' man or a man's man!
