This is because we're comparing large cities of pops of 250,000 or more.

No myth here. Fact.

You want to compare cities of less than X...go ahead and start your own thread.

Ok fine. Then you should've made your conclusion "Impoverished cities vote Democratic and no progress is made, but I just mean that if the city is over 250,000" rather than a general "voting Democrat=More Poverty.

San Francisco's mayor is a Democrat and it has the 8th highest population of billionaires living in its borders in the world. Not to mention it also has the 3rd highest median family income in the nation. San Jose's mayor is also a democrat. San Jose has the highest median income in the nation...

you have to remember, if democrats dont have any victims, including the poor they say they want to help but never do, they would never get elected to any kind of office.

Default Total Failure and Republicans

Yet, our latest Republican president was easily the worst this country has ever seen. He was a collosal idiot, a village idiot to be exact, with great skills at Neanderthal diplomacy.

1. Failed economic policy that sent this country into a near-Depression
2. Health-care crisis
3. Housing crisis
4. A trillion dollars dropped on a war that we lost
5. Regressive medical research policy
6. Not a clue on how to help the disadvantaged, so disadvantaged did more with less
7. Street gang crisis
8. Unregulated policies promoted predatory lending institutions as a new popular career choice
9. Crumbling infrastructure
10. Failure to support high-tech advancements and research
11. Skyrocketing gas prices
12. Skyrocketing energy costs
13. Policies that sent all states but Texas into an economic free fall
14. Illegal immigration crisis
15. Qualified american workers being displaced by foreign labor to increase profits
16. New, cheap foreign labor turning one-time warm communities into a congregation of cocoons
17. No interest in increasing the quality of American products to better compete, just an interest in making a profit with cheap product and cheap labor
.
.
.
On and on. No doubt about it. Not only are many conservatives among the poor, but overall they're impoverished in other ways. Republicans stink.

Default Poverty is WHY they vote Democratic, not an effect

You are mistaken in your assumption that the Democratic voting history of these areas is the cause of the poverty. It is the reverse and is seen throughout the nation. No one can contest that at the end of 8 years of Republican leadership the nation underwent a huge economic downturn (Not blaming, simply observing). The fault is shared between both parties, however, when you are poor and look at your options, a Democrat who wants to make sure you can eat and afford rent and perhaps even give you a VERY small amount of money as well as health care (all Democratic ideas) is a much more viable option than a Republican who tells you that he wants everyone to be rich so he wants to cut those services so he can lower taxes (which poor people really don't pay BTW) so you can invest the money you don't have and start your own business. The end product of overwhelming Republican leadership is complete deregulation, no minimum wage, starving poor people and elderly citizens who have to work well beyond their ability just to afford food until they die. Likewise, overwhelming Democratic leadership would produce something very similar to Socialism. When poor people are in the majority we elect Democrats. When the middle class is the majority we elect Republicans. I use the word "overwhelming" because my preference is for balance. I believe it works out best for the majority of Americans and protects us all from losing everything.

The poverty in these cities was created by Republican businessmen closing the city factories and moving their production to suburban or overseas locations. With out the industries and the wages the population slipped into poverty and without the tax base the cities cannot support their own infrastructure. The people involved have voted for Democrats because they realize what the Republicans have done to create and continue the impoverization of working and middle class America. As this spreads to suburbia the Republican party will find itself limited to exurban businessmen and rural socialists subsidized by agricultural support payments.

Democratic policies offer hope while Republican policies offer join the Army or starve. That is why they vote for Democrats.
