Outrageous. I entertained the thought of liking this guy for about one day. That's defintely over now...Paul is just another defender of Big Oil.

Quote:
Kentucky Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul said Friday that President Barack Obama's criticism of BP in the wake of the Gulf oil debacle sounds "really un-American." Paul, already facing a backlash over remarks earlier this week about civil rights legislation, criticized the Obama administration for declaring it will put its "boot heel on the throat of BP."

I don't I believe you when you say you entertained the thought. Especially when you come out with this "Paul is just another defender of Big Oil."

"Paul hasn't taken much, if any, money from the oil and gas industry during his run for the Senate (under $8,000 total, according to Center for Responsive Politics)"

If you followed his campaign you would know, like his dad, he receives his contributions mainly from individuals. NOT BIG CORPORATE MONEY like AIG which supported his opponent in the Republican primary.

"he had heard nothing from BP indicating it wouldn't pay for the spill that threatens devastating environmental damage along the Gulf of Mexico coast."

I agree. I haven't heard anything about BP reneging. IF Rand Paul was for big oil he would be FOR the cap on liability. If he was THEN you'd have something.

"And I think it's part of this sort of blame-game society in the sense that it's always got to be somebody's fault instead of the fact that maybe sometimes accidents happen," Paul said.

More wasted time and money by Congress trying to find out exactly who is at fault. For the ones who listened to the hemming and hawing during the questioning can you say something was actually solved? BP is responsible, period.

He may or may not be a racist but he's an extremist.

This is what happens when full bore Libertarian ideology is actually put in place.

They've spilt 100 Million Gallons now. They largest spill in World History and this idiot wants to deregulate oil production more.

If you rely on the Gulf as your source of livelyhood you can just suck it up.

Along with minorities, and handicapped, and the elderly.

Another one I was thinking about today

You know all these men and women in their forties and fifties trying to find jobs in this tough economy? This idiot would do away with age discrimination laws for companies if he could.

What the HELL is anybody thinking voting for this guy!!

Ah, gotta love MSNBC's snippets. Way to not include the full quote there guys.

The Associated Press: Rand Paul: Obama's criticism of BP 'un-American'
Quote:
Paul's defense of the oil company came during an interview as he tried to explain his controversial take on civil rights law, an issue that has overtaken his campaign since his victory in Tuesday's GOP primary.

"What I don't like from the president's administration is this sort of, 'I'll put my boot heel on the throat of BP,'" Paul said in an interview with ABC's "Good Morning America." "I think that sounds really un-American in his criticism of business."

On the oil spill, Paul, a libertarian and tea party favorite, said he had heard nothing from BP indicating it wouldn't pay for the spill that threatens devastating environmental damage along the Gulf of Mexico coast.

"And I think it's part of this sort of blame-game society in the sense that it's always got to be somebody's fault instead of the fact that maybe sometimes accidents happen," Paul said.

The senate candidate referred to a Kentucky coal mine accident that killed two men, saying he had met with the families and he admired the coal miners' courage.

"We had a mining accident that was very tragic. ... Then we come in and it's always someone's fault. Maybe sometimes accidents happen," he said.

The question should be what the hell are YOU thinking.

Who says you have a right to a job? If a company is going to fire someone because of the dumb reason they think that person is too old, then let them. Another company will hire that person if they are qualified. Let the company continue to fire QUALIFIED people. They will not be as successful as another company which chooses to run things differently imo.

Thanks for the honesty. You read it hear folks from a Paul supporter.

If a company wants to fire older employees then let them.

Is that what the working class people of Kentucky want? When you get older and accumulate more raises and start using your health care benefits, the company can kick you to the curb in hard times and just keep the young single childless new hires who live with their parents.

Are Americans this stupid? I don't know.
