Okay, I'll get the ball rolling. First George Carlin for his condtruction and imagination and the pure pin point precision of his execution. Second Doug Stanhope is relatively new to me but he's son much funnier than alot of the dull as dishwater "intellectual" comedians we get in the UK. And ten times the comedian Ricky Gervais ever will be. His rant on why today's generation sucks had me laughing out loud which few comedians have the ability to do these days. My 3rd choice is Lenny Bruce for his innovation and probably the fact that he has influenced probbaly just about every great comedian ever since. It's also nice to see how Lenny much Lenny Bruce's routine contrass with Stanhopes, i.e. back in the day when the kids still actually frightened the older generation.
Now however you compile your top 3 is fine by me. Who's the most real? intelligent? But most of all who makes you laugh? And your vote could just as easily based on who is funny now rather than comedians who were once in a class of their own but may have been surpassed since. These are my top 3, right now, this minute and I would like to see yours too.

3. Mitch Hedberg or Richard Pryor depending on my mood.
Richard Pryor has to be the most animated on a stage that I can think of. Louis CK is a natural too, I've become a big fan of his Louis CK television show.

I saw Carlin once and he repeated a CD he had out at the time almost word for word. Maher rarely repeats any of his material and I find him to be very funny.
#2 Rodney Dangerfield. I'm glad I saw him live before he died but I would have liked to have seen him when he was younger. He was a very funny man.
