There are no Spanish prostitutes anymore. Those prostitutes that your husband found in Las Ramblas are from Nigeria, in many cases they assault and steal tourist in plain daylight. They seem to have disappeared lately.
Why'd Spanish prostitutes disappear in the late '90s?
Countries that had a longer tradition of recieving immigrants than Spain did, like Britain, didn't see their women completely driven out of the trade. There aren't as many English whores as there used to be but still are some, particularly outside of London. (And given low immigration levels in the non-English parts of the UK I suspect there are still Scottish and Welsh prostitutes...) And there are still some native Portuguese prostitutes even in Lisbon, the Africans, South Americans, Eastern Euros, Middle Easterners, etc. didn't completely drive out the locals from what I read.
Maybe it was a cultural thing ; I've heard that Italy also saw the world's oldest profession taken over by immigrants. Spanish and Italian culture being closer than Spanish and English culture might make a difference.
In the US and Canada it seems like immigrants took over in the biggest cities, not so much in the smaller cities.
Yes, that's true. The Spanish stereotypical women is the Andalusian woman with some gypsy in her, just like the paintings of Romero de Torres and the women depicted by Romantics during the XIXth Century.
Not a long time ago, most Europeans thought that all Spanish were bullfighters and all the women were Gypsy Flamenco dancers.
Franco used that steorotype to attract tourism, but the fact is that most Spanish women are just like most Italian and French women.
Here's a question:
Franco was from Ferrol in La Coruna province. Why did his regime play up Andalusian stereotypes as "Spanish national stereotypes" rather than Galician national stereotypes? The Castilian stereotypes being played up as "national stereotypes" makes sense considering the centralization of power in pre-1977 Spain, but why were southern stereotypes considered "national" given that Franco himself was a Gallego? Was it because Galicia wouldn't be considered "exotic" enough by Northern Europeans?

I don't know much about prostitution in Europe or the USA. Immigration, however, well, immigrants are making it to some smaller cities now. Dalton,Georgia,USA, is considered the "carpet capital of the USA". It is a small town of 33,000 residents. Latin American immigrants now make up the largest part of the population. Latin-American immigrants make up large portions of the population in places such as Garden City,Kansas;Dodge City,Kansas;Liberal,Kansas. Immigrants are settling smaller cities in large numbers now.

I am aware of that, but have American prostitutes been pushed out of those cities and are the prostitutes in all those cities mostly immigrants?

I know very little about prostitution to begin with other than there is sex trafficking occurring in Atlanta. I wouldn't know where to look for prostitution because none of it is done openly.
the typical stereotype of Spanish women is that the all look like models and spend all their time perfecting that image so i was wondering what are Spanish women really like and what is considered beautiful/ attractive in Spain. Also to pin point this analogy; what do Spanish men consider beautiful (do they judge both mind and body)
Why limit yourself only to Spain, there are about 28 countries that speak Spanish. A good place to start is the U.S.Territories forum that always has blogs about the beauty of the Spanish woman. Here is one dancing|:
I haven't met many Spanish women in my life time. However, the Spanish women I have met are nothing like the stereotypes we tend to see about Spanish women.

A Spanish woman and a Spanish-speaking woman are as different as an English woman is different from an English-speaking woman.
