OMG , I never knew the name of this song, but the sound of it was always irritating the **** out of me, so I'd turn it off whenever I'd hear it on the radio.
I absolutely LOVE the Kravetz cover above.
Go figure.
I love Dolores O'Riordan since first met her on local TV in 1995. Whe she is gone I felt shock like I loose my sister or piece of mine and my life.
Marina is good singer but she sing that song without soul.
...Someone asked me on FB - "You've never heard "Sector Gaza" (Gaza Strip) band from Voronezh?
I was like "Nope, never heard them. ( My guess they were from the 90ies.)
And this is what I've received. It's called "A little song" apparently.
The cartoon.. the lyrics...
This is basically a remake of a well-known children song, that goes something like "The sun lit up brightly, all because we decided to sing a little song for our mommy..."
So the lyrics HERE are approximately within the same tunes; "The sun lit up brightly, all because me and my buddy decided to sing a little song..
And then the bottles and glasses were ringing happily, because me and my buddy were singing a little song..
and here the neighbors started *joyfully* banging on our little wall , all because me and my buddy were singing a happy little song..
and there the firemen were bringing their little ladder to our window, all because me and my buddy were hollering our happy song..."
The cartoon... the lyrics..
Unlike Tsoi or Letov, Klinskikh (frontman band) did not give music interesting to the whole world. Nevertheless, his legacy is very important for Russia.
2 components: music and lyrics.
1. The music of the Sector is not something unique. On the contrary, Klinskikh used popular (at that time) styles and took famous tunes. Punk, rock, pop, techno... Klinskikh used popular world achievements and combined it with folk motifs and pleasant melodies. He brought new musical styles to rural Soviet/Russian listeners before the era of Internet. He gave access to good world music and shaped musical taste of millions boys/guys (and even girls) throughout rural Russia (including me, of course ).
In this, by the way, he looks like band "King and Jester". But KiSh is music more for urban guys, not for "rednecks".
2. The lyrics of Klinskikh is the main heritage. His lyrics is Russian country, songs for "rednecks" and residents of provincial cities, about their life, thoughts, desires, superstitions, interests, dreams. His style is "what I see, then I sing and use a little irony" made a unique cut of the Russian provincial life of the late 80s-90s. It is not patriotically cleaned with birches and a horse in field, but it is a view from the other side, from streets. His stories will never fall into a history textbook, because these are small private stories of small provincial people, often with problems in life. Therefore it is very valuable. This is a unique encyclopedia, like a collection of proverbs by Dahl or a book by Gilyarovsky about Moscow. And I think that with every decade the value of Klinskikh's songs will increase from a historical point of view.
