What are the sources of Non-European admixture in the Spanish and Portuguese?
How significant is the Non-European contribution to the racial make up of Spaniard and Portugese, if at all.

All Europeans appear to be quite related to each other. There doesn't appear to be any significant non-European admixture in Iberian people. Populations closer to the Middle East have more non-European admixture like Greece for example but that is understandable. It is interesting with genetics to find what dna makes up a population. Some populations are more isolated than others so have less neolithic dna but we are all Europeans. Iberians are a very European population as far as genetics goes.

This, from The Genetics of pre-Roman Iberian Peninsula: A mtDna Study of Ancient Iberians (Wiley Online Library)

Genetic studies have shown that mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) substitutions that have accumulated along maternal lineages or haplogroups have diverged as human populations expanded through different continents; these lineages can be defined by particular SNPs in the coding region of the mtDNA, correlated to different haplotype sequences in the hypervariable control region (HVR-1) of the mitochondrial genome. Molecular analyses have revealed the existence of Eurasian and European specific haplogroups (named H, I, J, K, T, U, V, X and W); their distribution and characterization can help reconstruct past human migrations and population affinities in Europe, as well as provide a genetic context for ancient DNA studies. We have obtained data from both HVR-1 haplotype sequences and haplogroup-diagnostic SNPs from Iberian individuals by means of ancient DNA techniques.

And this, from Wiki:

Link with African populations

North Africa
A number of studies focus on the genetic impact of the centuries of Muslim rule in the Iberian peninsula on the genetic make up of the modern Iberian population. Iberia has the greatest presence of the typically Northwest African Y-chromosome haplotype marker E-M81 in Europe.[16][17] and Haplotype Va.[18] A thorough Y-chromosome analysis of the Iberian peninsula reveals that haplotype E-M81 surpasses frequencies of 10% in Southern Iberia.[19]

As for Mtdna analysis (Mitochondrial DNA), although present at only low levels, Iberia has much higher frequencies of typically North African Haplogroup U6 than those generally observed in Europe.[20][20][21][21][22][23] It is difficult to ascertain whether U6's presence is the consequence of Islam's expansion into Europe during the Middle Ages, or it is rather the result of ancient demic processes that predate the Islamic presence.[22][24]

What the hell are you talking about?

Black people in Portugal only make up to 2% of the population.
In England, Blacks make up to 3.3% of the population
In the Netherlands, Blacks make up to 3.1% of the population.
And in France, Blacks make up to 8% of the population.

These people are usually ex-colonials, who immigrated to Europe, after the decolonization of it's former overseas possessions in Africa.

Anyway, this thread is not about ethnic minorities nor their diaspora.

To answer to this post.
Non-European admixture in Iberians is negligible.
Since, Iberians cluster well among other Europeans.

Non-European admixture exist in all Europeans.
However, the amount is relatively trivial, that all Europeans cluster altogether.

Off course Iberians are non one said otherwise.

I think people are talking about non-European genes that they are admixture with.

It would be hard to choose with type of non-European blood they are admixed with because it could be either North African Caucasian, West Asian and even Arabian.

Iberians are a Caucasian/White folk.

But so are most North Africans, West Asians and Arabians.

Iberians would be most closer to South Europeans (such as Sicilians/Maltese, Greeks/Cypriots and Western Turks), Latin Americans, North Africans (Maghrebi people), West Asians (Levantines, Mesopotamians and Persians), Arabians, even some South Asians (Afghans, Pakistanis and Northwest Indians) and Gypsies.

Off course it is nobody said it was not.

The Iberian Peninsula still has some non-European or Extra/Exotic European Med elements that are not common throughout most of Western Europe, Northern Europe, Eastern Europe, Central Europe Middlelittle/South/Central Europe (Switzerland and North Italy) except for deep South Europe or The Mediterranean Sea (The Iberian Peninsula, Sicily, Malta, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, The Maghreb and parts of the Levant) which are Extra European/Med.

Proof of examples:

Quote:
The Mediterranean race (sometimes Mediterranid race) is one of the sub-races into which the Caucasian race was categorized by most anthropologists in the late nineteenth to mid-twentieth centuries.[1] According to various definitions, it was said to be prevalent in Southern Europe (such as Southwestern France/Iberia, Sicily, Malta, Greece, Cyprus and Turkey), Latin America (through Spanish, Portuguese, South-western French and South Italian/Calabrese or Sicilian ancestry), North Africa, Western Asia, Central Asia and South Asia, and in certain parts of Gypsy locations.[2][3][4][5][6][7] It is characterized by medium stature to tall stature, long (dolichocephalic) or moderate (mesocephalic) skull, aquiline nose or straight nose, any hair color, any eye color, and rosy pink to dark brown skin tone, though olive complexion is especially common.
Quote:
Our area, from Morocco to Afghanistan, is the homeland and cradle of the Mediterranean race. Mediterraneans are found also in Spain, Portugal, most of Italy, Greece and the Mediterranean islands, and in all these places, as in the Middle East, they form the major genetic element in the local populations. In a dark-skinned and finer-boned form they are also found as the major population element in Pakistan and northern India.
