Crime rate? In Austria? You sound like you are talking about the United States. Austria, the South of Germany and Switzerland are pretty much the safest places on earth. If there is any crime it is generally caused by poor quality immigrants.

I work in software, not in electronics but it seems to me that Germany or the UK would be a better choice than Austria.

I am new to Austria and I dont know anything about it that's why I am asking.

Then the blue card. For anything country-specific ( blue card isn't ), your best bet is to contact the local Austrian embassy or Austrian consulate.
