right..if you scroll down on the link that YOU provided its says this..
  • On average San Diego, CA is warmer than Lisbon, Portugal by 1°F.
  • The highest temperature, 111°F in San Diego, CA, was recorded in 1963.
  • Lisbon, Portugal on average is cooler than San Diego, CA by 4°F.
-Remember I said slightly milder..and I believe 4 degrees constitutes as a slight difference..I know they're not far off, but I 'm not wrong, so unless you have another link proving me wrong you might as well delete your reply.

It's funny.....
When I lived in Scranton/ Pennsylvania...the weather pattern was pretty much exactly like the one in my hometown in Hessen/ Germany.

Even when I moved to Drums- Hazleton/ Pennsylvania (Mountain region), was the weather pattern just the same way like I would live in the mountain region in Germany.

Now I live in Florida....and all of the comparisons with Germany are out of the window....LOL.

oh yeah Central Florida weather is amazing. It can get a little hott though especially since your coming from places like PA and Germany. Summer conditions persist from mid-march till mid-October.

I wouldn't normally dig up a thread like this, but you really should check out the Koppen Climate Maps to get an understanding of where similarities exist between regions and continents.

Köppen climate classification - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yuma, Arizona - Murcia, Spain
Los Angeles, California - Marseille, France
Dallas, Texas - Milan, Italy
New York, NY - Zagreb, Croatia
Chicago, Illinois - Bratislava, Slovakia
Minneapolis, Minnesota - Minsk, Belarus

SoCal is usually described as having a "Mediterranean" climate.

I saw a Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit in San Diego which had photos comparing Israel to SD and they have incredibly similar landscapes, & climate apparently. Yes I know, not Europe, but I thought it was interesting.

Los Angeles, California - Marseille, France
Dallas, Texas - Milan, Italy
New York, NY - Zagreb, Croatia
Chicago, Illinois - Bratislava, Slovakia
Minneapolis, Minnesota - Minsk, Belarus

My God, these comparisons are preposterous!
There is no city in Europe that has the climate of LA!
Marseilles is way colder, snow can happen in winter, and bitter sub-zero winds!
The only city whose climate approaches LA's is maybe Palermo, not even Malaga!
And Dallas is way hotter (and drier) than Milan, of course Milan is at the same latitude as Montreal (not as cold as Montreal, sure)
Yuma has a DESERT climate- Murcia has a dry Mediterranean climate-quite different, there is rain in winter in Murcia.

In the Northern hemisphere, the western end of continents have milder climates than the eastern end of continents, because of the action of ocean currents. As such, most of Western Europe has pretty mild weather compared to the continental weather of the Eastern U.S.
