Celebrated my daughter's name day this year, mainly to make up for the fact that I felt gutted as a kid because I don't have a name day but one of my brothers, who has a Finnish name, did and he sometimes got presents on the day from relatives. Doesn't seem like anyone else celebrates it though.
That is great and I did not know Finland had name days. I hope name days in your country traditions continue will into the future.
Here in Croatia for Name Day people usually just congratulate if they remember.
My is on Valentine's day so a lot of people do remember, as well as for those who are named after St.Catherine, St. Nicholas, St. Joseph,etc.. But some people celebrate, I don't..
I think it is more family related. Some families do celebrate and some don't. We do.
