My impression as an American who has lived in Europe for fifteen years is that violence and high-octane ill will centering on race and the slaughter of groups of kids in schools or people in public places by some nut with a gun are seen here simply as standard aspects of the American society. Not that they are the everyday event in every place, but rather that are just part of the fabric of what America is and not something unusual.
Except (it seems to me) for Brit news outlets, stories about these two topics get about a day or two of mileage and are a third or fourth tier story.
Don't get me wrong, such headlines can be found on newspapers here as well, but they are not featured, Ferguson is just one news item among many. People here care much more about the arrest of the former prime minister than about some police shootings, or anything else for that matter, happening far away in some other country.

What a race obsessed world we live in, show me evidence this was racially motivated... i'll wait.
This is a huge issue, cops shooting unarmed kids.. and its very unfortunate.
but what is the deal with all the race baiting? just look at how powerful the American media is? they have all these international posters thinking it was racially motivated. pretty crazy if you ask me.
Next year I want to visit USA and try one of those Segway guided "riot tours"
