Also, cut the gun fetish out. There is very little evidence that private gun ownership prevents any tragedies, really. Also, the rest of the world will never understand or sympathize with America's absolute and blind love of guns, and yet, the rest of the world doesn't seem to struggle with such frequent gun violence. You can't turn everything in to a gun debate, it hardly ever makes sense anyways.
I have been to Europe a few times.

I have never felt insecure in Europe or in the US. But I am thankful that my gov't doesn't prohibit me from defending myself, if I wanted to.

I hope your pacifist approach works. Good luck

Do you think I was serious when I said I protected myself 10 times last year with my car keys? I was sarcastically making the point that US gun lovers love to spread the myth that their own guns save them from XX attacks. All just for more gun sales. More gun sales = more murders, suicides, accidental deaths, and Republicans in office.

Pardon - but how is it a MYTH that guns protects some gun owners from attacks, but then say " More gun sales = more murders, suicides, accidental deaths, and Republicans in office."

Are you saying that no gun owner has been able to protect himself, his family or others with a gun?? please, if you don't know about a subject matter, that's fine. But to make up statistics just makes you look sad.

We haven't had a Republican in office in 6 years. I have no idea what you're babbling about.

So you think more people have been gun heros than the amount of deaths generated from their generally open and liberal sales?

Not true, as gun sales have skyrocketed over the last decade, while gun crimes and murders have all dropped. As for putting more Republicans in office, I'd say it's exactly the opposite: having a Democrat in the White House who favors gun control = more gun sales.

Strawman. Do you believe his sum is greater than the other group?

The problem many people have with guns is that they don't know when to use it at the right time therefore guns should only be allowed by professionals like the military and police.

give everyone guns, so they can just walk into a public place and shoot everyone around them just because they feel suicidal!

I never said they never protect owners, just that it is an unprovable overstated myth perpetuated by dudes like you and the NRA. You btw are giving no statistics and I find it unseemly that some wet behind the ears American is trying to influence the French to take up America's shameful gun habit.

I'll admit that I beleive police officers shoud be armed but your thread was aimed at arming citizens (cartoonists in this case). It seems you have been duly undressed by the Euros on this forum.
