Umm absolutely true. You are victim of american gun lobby also called lying At least this is situation in my country. Maybe criminals have different behavior in America? Or maybe it's just old women's storie to made up to make you scared.
Yea. Mass murders commited with guns After those incidents they made laws even tighter so it's very unlikely that a crime with this profile is going to happen again. Also the Kauhajoki shooter copied the Jokela guy. I know that in America this is business as usual and it's just life that your kids may get shot during the school day

No, rapes by strangers are real, whether you care to admit it or not. This government report shows that 22% of female rape victims are raped by strangers and 33% of rapes take place outside of the home.
A rapist is most likely going to be someone who you know and it's going to happen at your or his/her home. A criminals preying in a park at night is just fiction and statistically doesn't happen.
There are plenty of rape cases each year where the perp is a complete stranger and has literally came out of the bush. Maybe you need to study crime statistics and read the paper every once in a while.

You are obviously not familiar with "America", which i presume means the US. Even the most violent and crime ridden cities can have neighborhoods that are both statistically and by perception very, very safe. Not to mention adjacent or outlying suburban municipalities, which are politically and financially different entities.

Maybe you need to look at some crime statistics, both burglaries and mobbings/muggings are a very regular type of crime that take place daily all over the country. Sure, they might not be a problem for YOU, the victims of such crimes might have a different point of view. Not to mention the people investigating those crimes, who nowadays have very stretched resources to do anything to prevent them. Finland has the lowest number of police per capita of any industrialized nation nowadays, while crime statistically is nowhere near being the lowest. In fact, violent crime compared to many EU countries is statistically rather high.
Saying crime is rather low and that you have a perception of safe surroundings is one thing, lying how certain very common mass crimes supposedly are nonexistent is another thing.
There is no municipal police in Finland, so there are dozens and dozens of towns with several thousand inhabitants where the nearest police station is 30-50 km away, and/or the nearest policeman on duty may be 100 km away. With many rural police stations no longer having holding facilities, the police unit of 2 patrol officers might be far out of their primary patrol area transporting a prisoner. I'm not talking about Lapland or anywhere near. In Lapland, you can double or triple those numbers. In stark contrast to the US, where incorporated municipalities of that size most always have an own, dedicated police force, with staffing levels per capita almost always exceeding those of Finland. The whole police service in here is nowadays structured to effectively serve the 15 to 20 biggest municipalities, while leaving the rest of the state with abysmal service levels and response times.
This discussion on guns is essentially pro-gun Americans trying to persuade Europeans that they are wrong. As the French might say: c'est un dialogue des sourds. Neither side is really listening to, or interested in, what the other side has to say because the difference in views is essentially a cultural one.
Majurius, take a peek at the news. Oulu police last night shot an axe-wielding man accused of double murder by said axe, who charged toward the arresting officer. Perp is now deceased from the police bullet as of this morning, and while it's not really relevant, he also happened to be black.
I'll throw a guess, he targeted victim #1 and the motive was "black socks", victim #1 had previously been a SO, but had decided to move on and find new love, which enraged the perp. Or, just as likely, was the new love of the former SO. Victim #2 was a good samaritan who was too brave and became collateral.
Gotta give credit to the guy for one thing, it's more than likely he was not a native, yet showed a very deep understanding of the finnish way of life, having just committed a very typical finnish crime, murder by axe.. twice. Even if it surfaces the perp was not drunk during the crime, that is still some dedicated assimilation.
There are many things wrong with, or unexplained, in the article, not the least of which is the newspaper's report that the simulated civilians were able to kill attackers in some instances.
