I think it has a lot to do with the level of education. Educated young people tend to be more liberal, while the losers of our current system tend to be conservative, often drifting further and further to the right the more they get the sensation there is no place and purpose for them.
I think that is a global situation, not only a European one.
How True Finns relate to Russians? I think we have a lot in common ...
Quite a bit actually. But the situation is that the traditional conservative party, the Coalition, has turned increasingly liberal, promoting individual rights, supporting gay marriage, NATO, European integration, liberalism and free market. The True Finns have sucked all the conservatives to theirselves, saying "Home, family, fatherland, christianity". Much like the UKIP and Front National does.
The True Finns are very patriotic, and some are very anti-Russian, but the majority say that we should keep good relations and promote the economical ties with Russia. The party still doesn't say no to NATO.
Why are True Finns doing well in Turku? I would expect Turku to be more like Helsinki.
