Doesn't Milan have a larger nightlife (not talking about restaurants) than Rome?
Milan, Naples and Riviera Romagnola all have a better nightlife than Rome.

I forgot about Dublin and Mykonos. And I've heard Hamburg has great nightlife, but for some reason I left it out....
Nightlife in Sardinia outside of Cagliari is either non existent or very expensive. Venice doesn't have much going on because it isn't a large city and the locals mainly go on the mainland when they are looking for fun. I have heard good things about Florenced, maybe you just didn't go to the right places.
It probably doesn't fit in with his definition of "nightlife" as jumping up and down like a lunatic to douchey music going "woo!" in a mouldy room full of pimply dropouts and losers, then going out and "getting plastered".
