Google pick pocket videos for any cities you are visiting, better to be warned before.
So basically act the same as you would in any, US included, big city/busy centers around the world!

There is a refugee centre here nearby, or more precisely a tent village, as we don't have a place to house them. I think there are some 500+ refugees there. They are interviewed, fed and monitored by the officials, Red Cross workers and volunteers, and aren't even allowed to wander around the city.

Needless to say, I haven't seen a single one of them. So that is the refugee crisis here in my neck of the woods.

You actually believe the American news you hear? And I'm asking as an American who just moved Holland. I stopped listening to the news a long time ago because they take one scrap of news and construe it to their own liking.

You can make 500 disappear but not the numbers coming into places such as Munich.

Exactly! But it isn't only the American media doing this, pretty much all news sources are guilty of this.

The only way to really know what is going on in a country is to live there long enough to make numerous connections and really come to understand the culture and the background of the place. Then you might have the tools to cut through the BS and get some understanding of what is really going on.

There's around 6000 in Munich. In a city of 1.4 million residents.

Stop the madness already. Jeez it's like the apocalypse would be upon us when a handful of immigrants come to Europe. Yes, it's an humanitarian crisis, but life goes on as normal. How can 120-200k people be so mindblowing on a continent of 500 million people? This whole thing has blown into ridiculous proportions. Stop creating the end of the world -scenarios in your heads. I'm fed up with it.

It is not so much the situation today people are pissed off/afraid, it's more the process that is taking place. And those numbers you mentioned, they are just a drop in the ocean, millions more will come, later their family will join them and then they will breed like rabbits, coz that's what women are for in muslim countries.
