So here in the US there are some cities/towns that look rather European, whether it happened because of European emigrants moving in, or the creation of a tourist trap. Those who want to chime in and propose cities, make sure they are out side of Europe.

So I will start of with a town in the mountains in Washington state called Leavenworth https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leavenworth,_Washington It is a town modeled after a Bavarian town and is just a tourist destination, not the occurrence of German emigrants moving in. Here are some more photos.

So what does this town of 2,000 people remind you of from an architectural point of view. Or is this to stereotypical and nothing like this exists in Europe.

It reminds me of places like Mayrhofen im Zillertal. Just like Casa Bonita reminds me of Mexico. I mean, Disneyland also kinda looks like a magic kingdom.

Looks like it should look like. Alpine architecture found commonly in old villages in that region. Some might well remind of Czech and Slovak houses in the Western Carpathians.

This one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayrhofen in Austria? well it does look a lot like it but Leavenworth is not as big. Also interesting Leavenworth also has a train station (pretty small, just a platform) and has ski resorts nearby as well.

So here is another one of those touristy European towns. It's called Solvang and is located in California https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solvang,_California Unlike Leavenworth it was originally inhabited/colonized by Danish immigrants. However the Danish architecture came later in order to woe in tourists.
Here are some photos.

Also Leavenworth was inspired by this town. So which one looks more accurate?

It's a tourist trap.
This "town" consists of two/three streets only, with "Alpine architecture."
What a disappointment))))

Yup, both look like pretty bad tourist traps.

Okay so I guess there is a pretty clear consensus that these are tourist traps. What about the French quarter in New Orleans?

I don't think that the French Quarter looks particularly French, but it definitely has its own charm and doesn't look like a newly built tourist trap at all. I'd definitely go there.

Oh that's so cool! *.*
It doesn't look French to me but it's still very beautiful.
