Why do people always claim Belgium is boring and there is nothing to do there!

Brussels is a really interesting city, fill with art galleries, antique shops, live music bars, cheap second hand stores where you can buy really cool stuff, not to mention AMAZING bohemian bars just about everywhere! Walking into some bars and pubs in Brussels is like walking into the 1920's!

Not to mention a tiny country famous for its cartoon, graphic design!

Plus stroll around the different areas of the city and you find these art deco and art nouveau buildings that are beautiful enough to keep you just happy walking around

add to that over 2 thousand beers, the best chocolates in the world, great cuisine that no one knows (its not just fries, waffles and mussels)

Look at the Netherlands for example, outside of Amsterdam there is hardly any city worth visiting! (Rotterdam? Den Haag? sorry but no), the Dutch cuisine is pretty much non-existent!

then look at Belgium and outside Brussels you have bohemian, artsy, hip Antwerp.... you have Brugge and Ghetn (the city centers on these two cities are world heritage sites), you actually have a cuisine, tons of interesting architecture, you have a coastline with delicious seafood, you have the ardeness with the lush green hills where you can hike, camp, picnic!

You have the funkiness of the dutch and the culture of the french mixed into one single country

I get the feeling people go to Brussels, walk around la grand place and then get this idea that belgium is boring!!!

There is SO MUCH TO DO, in such a tiny country that I can't wrap my mind around the fact a country so small with so much diversity and so much to offer can be boring!

You want boring??? think of Frankfurt am main with its gray bauhauses, Geneva switzerland with its le corbusier blandness, Milano. But funky, old, hip, art nouveau Brussels?

Rotterdam/Den Haag aren't any less interesting than Antwerp/Ghent.

Groningen, Haarlem, Utrecht, Breda, Den Bosch, Nijmegen, Maastricht, Valkenburg, Dordrecht etc. etc. are all very clean and organized cities unlike Belgium with all those holes in the roads and cracks in the walls.

The Netherlands coastline is longer, more diverse and seafood can be found there as well.

The Netherlands doesn't care about religion anymore in the last 40 years.

Do Flemish and Dutch feel close to one another?

like when you're in other country and you meet a flemish person... is it like you met a fellow nederlandophone?

I've always been a fan of Belgium, for many of the reasons the OP stated. It's also the perfect base to go out and explore other countries.

Brussels is definitely more interesting than Zurich. I love Belgium myself. Bruges is one of my favorite cities.

Will be a nice summer in 2016, no orange, though it would be funny if 'holland' won another ec. And no Worldcup. Brabant suffered most. orange murdered many in Brabant.

Why do you like it that the Netherlands didn't qualify for the Euro Cup next year
What did the Dutch do to you?
