I love Brussels. It's a beautiful city and a complete surprise to many Americans such as myself. We grow up hearing about Paris, London, Rome, Venice, Amsterdam and Berlin, but Brussels and Belgium aren't all that well known. It's a pity. Wonderful place in a wonderful location.

That's the bright side of not being too well-known : people don't know what to expect and are pleasantly surprised

I'm an American living in Brussels. My brother and sister in law visited over the holidays. It was their first time in Europe and they were thrilled and excited by all they saw. They didn't know much about Brussels before the visit, but they left enchanted by it and committed to learning more. It truly is a wonderful city and a great representation of Europe.

U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said that living in Brussels is like living in “a hellhole” because of the lack of “assimilation” of the Muslim population.
“You go to Brussels — I was in Brussels a long time ago, 20 years ago, so beautiful, everything is so beautiful — it’s like living in a hellhole right now,” he said in a TV interview with FOX Business Network.
that's not true at all, what a retard...

Locals defend the city with images of parks, landmarks and food.

I visited there for a few days at the end of December, I loved it! Very cool city, kind of gritty and grimey, but, that was part of it's charm. The metro/bus system worked really well, met a lot of nice people. Was walking around the infamous muslim "ghetto" a bit during the day a few times before I realized what it was and never had any issues at all.
