Moving to Stockholm Sweden. I'm American and looking for a place to rent. What regions can I find cheap housing? I don't need much, only a home
I don't mind staying outside of stockholm, but i'd prefer to stay as close as possible
I don't have much money
What types of places would mostly likely hire illegal immigrants?
--I'll get a visa but until then...
No chance, forget about it.
To rent a place, you need a Swedish bank account. As an illegal immigrant you cannot get it.
Secondly, you need a job. The Swedes will not hire illegal immigrants under any circumstances.
Stockholm has a huge housing shortage, and it's quite expensive. You have no chance of getting a flat.
This is a very bad idea that has zero chance of succeeding.
There are no places to rent and cheap housing doesn´t exist in Stockholm.
The whole area around Lake Mälaren is expensive and so is the Uppland and Södermanland provinces.
Because it is expensive you will find roommate options. As summer approaches more temporary work opens to cover for Swedes on holiday. By fall this could lead to something more long-term.

You need to look into a car and license.
One step at a time.
He is trying becoming an illegal immigrant. With that, his chances are zero. Stop encouraging him.
Try getting your visa first. That's fine. You don't have to be 'illegal'. It's not hard though takes time and not necessarily successful. Still others do it and I know of a couple of 20 year olds who are in the process now.
Dude, if you're not going to believe the people who respond to you here, why are you posting?
You don't know what you're doing. The idea of just moving there and finding a place to rent has me rolling on the floor. The housing market is so tight, even people who work there have a hard time finding a place. You need to do your homework (there are expat forums and blogs that discuss these things in detail), and look before you leap. And believe people when they give you helpful info, instead of blowing you off as the clueless rube that you are.
