Travel to Europe is easier for foreigns than travel to US. The immigration laws aren't that strict in most of the countries. Another thing is if you choose a country that can provide you a good job, usually when you become a resident (you don't have to have the citizenship) they will pay for your healthcare. This is an important point of view from the American eyes.

I'm only able to explain how it works in Spain, but I'm sure that in the other EU countries is pretty much the same. Healthcare is covered when you have a job, I mean the money is subtracted from your salary for example.

Other things is that know, the dollar-euro exchange rate is almost equal. That can help you to move in Europe at a similar cost. All this little things (and this is just an example) are the ones you've to think before moving there.

If I understand this sentence correctly, you favor public transportation, nightlife and European food? People seem to have huge differences in their preferences, public transportation would be the last issue I mind.

Public transportation is not that good everywhere, I can hardly imagine that there is no town or area in the US that features all this things.

Many European countries suffer from high umemployment rates especially among the younger, in Germany people are needed who work in the geriatric care and generally in medical and health care. Also in the IT or craftsmanship sector you might find a job.
