I'm expecting a job offer in Lund, Sweden. I'm currently making about $115,000 in New Jersey, near Philadelphia. New Jersey's a bit expensive compared to much of the US (property taxes for my place run about $9,000 a year). To have a similar lifestyle in Sweden, what salary would you recommend? Just a little background about myself: I'm a 15+ year engineer with a family (3 children all age 10 and under). The company would cover the cost of relocation (though haven't received the details of that just yet). If I'm missing any vital information, please let me know.
Doing some rough calculations, and assuming I have 52% of salary remaining to spend after taxes, I’m guessing about 747,000kr a year pre-tax for equivalent $115,000 pretax in New Jersey. Does that sound right?
Okay, I told them 600,000 kronas. Is that realistic for a family of five?
Yes. Specially if your wife is working too.
