The other nordic capitals of Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, and Helsinki are no doubts global cities. All have the featues (large transit systems, international recognition, etc.) and Oslo and Copenhagen have the Nobel Prizes. However, Reykjavik is significantly smaller than all of them but Iceland has quite a large reputation for its size. There are also many flights from the airport. However, the question comes down to Reykjavik itself. Is it really a global city?
Not that I'm an expert on what sort of cities can be classified as being global cities , but I'm going to have to state/vote no , if for no other reason the fact that I've never seen or heard Reykjavik being mentioned in the context of being a global city .
