Well I've told myself that something is better than nothing. So this year I've been trying to take some sneakers and workout clothes to my 'business traveler' hotels that I stay in. I try to get 20-30 minutes on the treadmill, and maybe a few curls with free weights.
After a long day I dont feel like 'maxing it out', I just want to do something in the hopes I tone up and maybe lose a few lbs. (I think anything is better than sitting in hotel bar watching ESPN). Any suggestions on stuff to do at these hotels? Most have a treadmill or two and maybe some free weights.

Dumbells are always your friend. Most weight rooms in the hotel gyms are fairly limited, but you can do a lot of things with dumbells. I'd say try to do a little running, also work on lifting weights. Do your military press, inclines, flys (my favorite) dumbell press. Try to make due with the machines also.
Results aren't overnight, but if you keep up on everything and stay consistent, you will see great results. Results don't come from a huge workout once a month, you see results from consistency and many workouts. Try taking a before after picture, you won't regret it.

I was in the same boat for 6 years. I specifically took up running, because it was the easiest thing i could do during the week, plus i would throw in a few 5-10k races a couple weekends i was back home to keep me honest.
At some point, i replaced some of my runs with circuits of various execises (pushups, crunches, lunges, squats, etc). Then incorporated jump rope and wheel, both easily packable.
Don't travel much but when I do I go for early morning or late evening walks. Before I go I use various mapping software to check out places to walk to. I think of these times as maintenance not serious. Relax and enjoy the view!
Pushups are good. You can usually find something to do dips on, chairs, bars, park bench, etc. Pullups are good too.

You can get in an excellent workout in your own room with just your bodyweight and/or some light dumbells or handweights and a medicine ball, if desired.
Pushups, squats, jumping jacks, crunches, planks, running in place, shadowboxing and kicking, burpees and such will get you into great condition. Additionally, they don't require much space and can be done anytime you wish. You can roll out of bed in the morning and workout, or after a long day at work. It's up to you.
You can do pick a few and do a circuit, or take one such as the shadowboxing or burpees and use the Tabata protocol. you are doing 20 seconds of intense work, followed by 10 seconds of rest, then repeat for 8 cycles. A short, yet intense workout.
Also, if your hotel has a nice set of steps, take advantage of them as well. Good luck!
If you travel a lot, invest in some high-quality exercise bands. Gil3 gives some great examples of exercises to do in your room. I bring my P90x videos and do them in my room as well.
Another way you can get a good workout in a hotel is to jog up and down the stairs. In my experience doing this, the stairs are almost always vacant since everyone uses elevators.
