They have a strict policy about "meatheads," whatever that means. I have no plans of being intimidating, so I won't be grunting or slamming weights. I'm not looking to lose weight, I just want to add muscle/mass, is this the right gym for me?

Its not for us to decide. You need to decide for yourself what gym is best for YOU.

Me personally, I'd NEVER go into a Planet Fitness.

I'm sure you can go have a look at the gym and see if it suits your purposes. It's definitely affordable.

The Planet Fitness near my house always has a few fit young guys lifting weights, along with the usual assortment of people on the cardio machines.

They are a decent gym and certainly priced right. I would probably join if there was one convenient to my work. I say go for it. You don't have much to lose other than some weight.

I believe they just don't want people with attitudes, walking around checking themselves out, checking other people out & assessing their lack of fitness with smirk, grunting, and high five-ing.

No frat boys & no football field antics. No bro's saying their Yo's.

...but I did read a story about somebody getting in trouble for 'breathing heavy', so I guess they dont want you to lift 'too' hard.

I looked at a PF but decided to go elsewhere it seemed like a fitness factory with not a whole lotta strength equipment.

We invested in our own equipment and workout from home, I prefer that myself ...

See if they have equipment, ask their thoughts on deadlifts. The one by me when I was younger had 0 barbells.

Please go, and grunt & slam weights. And post the video. Should be fun

I do like when gyms crack down on those dudes that love to slam the weights hard like doing deadlifts and all.

No need for that in a regular gym, if you want to slam ****e, then go join a crossfit gym or a weightlifting/powerlifting facility.
