ALLISON AUBREY Said,

I have to admit, I melt at the creaminess of full-fat yogurt.

It's an indulgence that we're told to resist. And I try to abide. (Stealing a bite of my daughter's YoBaby doesn't count, does it?)

If you knew what was added to skim milk to give it some "body", you wouldn't drink anything BUT whole milk.

I'm a big fan of Chobani and Oikios greek yogurts. I buy the plain kind, then flavor them with a small bit of honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon -- pefect!

Protein is your friend.

So basically, the article is making a determination based on a "study" abstract of 2 "studies" in europe. A 12 year study in Sweden and a meta-analysis of 16 observational studies....none double blind. So, basically, these are incidental findings.

I do admit, and I think we all know since the introduction of "processed foods" into the diet, the health of the nation has gone down the toilet. Whole foods vs processed foods

I've recently come to the conclusion that most people are better off not eating diary at all.

When I see comments like fat keeps us thin I think about folks who promote ketogenic diets.

we know this? as far as I know, life expectancy is going up. sure, there are lots of fat people but 1. that's a choice and 2. I don't think any of us know enough to compare overall health now vs the past. but I know people are living longer and I know people can do a lot to manage their own health. so I think the opposite of what you are saying is true and I see no reason to believe "processed" foods are any less healthy than whatever you consider to be not processed.

but hey, we have a fad and we use buzz words to convince ourselves and everyone that everything is proven so why not just believe it as if its a fact and ridicule those who say otherwise? then, when the next fad comes along we can then believe that and pretend people who still believe what you used to believe are ignorant? its funny because the people who bought into the "whole foods" organic, not processed, gluten free, etc. etc. fad think they are so smart and that their beliefs are based on "facts."

I don't see anything wrong with using small amounts of whole milk for cooking or for adding to re-heated steel-cut oats. Just account for the fat and calories in the day's diet journal or however you're tracking meals.

I gave up milk totally for awhile because I thought skim milk was just awful and it didn't improve any of the dishes that I used it in. However the substitutes were no better. Almond milk in cheese sauce doesn't cut it, and soy milk is just nasty to my taste buds.

Your experiences may vary . . .

The body does require fat in order to be healthy. Fat does act as an appetite suppressant.

However, the most likely scenario is that milk is usually taken with carbs, often sweetened carbs. If the milk is full fat it will regulate the speed that those carbs are turned into glucose in the bloodstream. Fat slows down the conversion of carbhydrates.

Blood sugar fluctuations can be interpreted as hunger. So maybe the full fat milk just prevents you from eating again sooner.

ok, so You aren't aware, and obviously there are many others who think there is nothing wrong with processed foods. I would suggest that you do more reading.

There is nothing faddish about not eating high processed foods.
There is nothing faddish about full cream milk
The fad, is the light, or x% fat free malarkey that has been pushed on people.
