Should be pointed out that she had a rare illness that prevented metabolism of excess protein. She apparently lived on protein shakes and egg whites, especially when preparing for a competition.

Gorgeous woman.

According to the article, it also wasn't a diagnosed condition.

Sad it happened to such a beautiful woman.

Yes, she had a metabolic disorder.

But people in general don't need as much protein as they think they do, the supplement industry is making a killing off the general public.

This is why I remain natural and don't use protein powders or BCAAs

There's nothing wrong with good quality protein supplements. They are great for serious lifters.

Protein kills. Please refer to the OP as well as Rich Piana, who drinks protein shakes large enough to drown a toddler.

Her looks really should have no relevance to the topic. If she was ugly I guess it's not nearly as sad

And because this fanatic overdid supplements and protein shakes, her parents have made it their mission to regulate their sale in Australia. Give me a break.

I feel for the bodybuilder and her family, but you can't really blame the entire supplement industry. Ms. Hefford had a health condition, she was making a steady diet of protein, cutting weight for contests and getting dehydrated.

On the labels of protein powders and pills it specifically says not to be used for weight loss.

I'm sorry, but this unfortunate demise of an attractive young lady is not a great reason to introduce more regulations , driving up costs for consumers. Whey protein is derived from milk. It's been proven safe over decades of use by all over the world.

Ever drunk milk? Or had cookies? Or any other bakery items? They all contain whey/ casein which is what most protein powder use as source of protein.
Guess you are not natural anymore, huh?
