“It appears that you can set up a workout regimen that happens to be convenient for you,” in terms of how and when you shuffle the endurance and resistance elements, says Dr. Phillips, “and you’re not going to get less training response.”
I think the point is that you can do cardio and resistance training on the same day without undermining your results.
On a different note. I do light resistance training and I can tell you, while I certainly appreciate the muscle tone I get from it, there is no way that my muscles are as well developed as a woman who lifts heavier weights. And it's not just because I have more fat on my body...
I do both on some days. Weights first then whatever gas is left in the tank I will either cycle or run.
Sometimes I do it the other way around, but I am not as effective with the weights.
I am glad they are doing these studies, but for Joe Average, the import thing is getting the exercise in, not the order of the exercise, and whether or not you do it on the same day.
It is better to do low intensity something, than a whole lotta nothing.
I have been doing both for YEARS. Yes, im a bada$$, but nothing more special than anyone else. In fact, I have achieved BETTER results by doing both on the same day than alternating.
OP, what ARE your thoughts on this?
