Depends on the "vacation". One or two days on a holiday weekend? Maybe not. One or two days isn't going to make or break my overall fitness/health plan unless I'm some sort of fanatic. Many of my planned vacations already involve exercise, it just happens to be a different type of physical activity compared to what I might do on some weekday at home. I've never taken the sorts of vacations where you just lie around on a beach or blotto on some cruise ship eating more food than 5 people need.
Yeah, I've never been much of a hard core fitness person, and think of time spent in an actual gym to be a waste of a trip. I generally consider the extra walking/swimming/hiking on a vacation to be enough. I can do real life when I'm home.
Never in a hotel but my vacations are active so that counts (hiking or biking)
I’m the same. I will go to the gym in a cruise if the weather is not conducive to being able to walk around the deck, but otherwise I prefer to hike, bike, or even just walk around a city area exploring. I will use a gym on a cruise if the weather isn’t acceptable for walking around the deck and we aren’t in port where I can explore/take a stroll.
I select hotels with good gyms whenever possible. I will pay extra to stay in a hotel with a good gym, especially on personal travel. If one is not available, then I scout out gyms and buy day passes.
Thanks for all the responses, I'm with all that still hit the YMCA or gym on vacations! Good jobs! Myself and my kids went to the YMCA twice while on vacation - 2 different Y's! It was good! Exercising in the hotel room, doesn't cut it for me, need the gym.
Sometimes but typically not. I usually use it as rest time and it always does me good. I come back refreshed, stronger, and mentally fresher.
