Flat ground? Hard to say for me because I live in a hilly location. Walking from our house up to the Mt. Juneau tram and back a couple weeks ago, my fitbit reported 12,456 steps in 129 minutes. That's 96+ steps per minute with over 1500 ft. of elevation gain.

We walk faster than most people up that trail. Also stop briefly at top for a couple minutes so that will ding the pace a bit. In our mid to late 60's. Average pulse was said to be 110. I can't get into the "cardio" heart zone (over 120) without running, but I suspect this aspect of fitbit is not accurate. Certainly hiking up a mountain qualifies as cardio.

For me, 110 steps per minute. Stayed the same throughout the walk. Age 78.
For you?
Oh, and how tall are you? That makes a difference. I'm 6'5", which will bring down number of steps per minute. In running, every inch of extra height coincides on average with a loss of 3 steps per minute. I don't know how fitbit calculates this. Perhaps their program doesn't take into account height, it's just an average so is inaccurate on the high side for me.
