Last March I suffered an ankle fracture while running. Doctor determined surgery wasn't necessary and I was placed in a walking boot for about 6 months. Once out of the boot, I did about 3 months of PT. I slowly stared running again once out of PT. My foot never stopped hurting but I was able to train for and successfully run a half marathon in September. This may have been a little ambitious of me but I was eager to run a race.

I haven't run since then but my pain in the arch of my foot continues and sometimes feels worse than before PT. I also will feel some discomfort in my calf and hip. I have limited my exercises to riding a stationary bike or lifting weights. I continue to do the stretches/exercise I learned at PT at home. I am frustrated that I continue to experience pain as I thought by now I would back to running as normal.

Any tips or advice ?

Often after an injury, we distribute weight on our feet differently, as a protection mechanism. This can lead to all sorts of other pains and discomforts.

I would keep going back to the PT. If you stop running altogether, it will be harder to restart. Some pain/discomfort is fine and is expected as part of your journey back to normalcy.
