Going without water isn't healthy; that's not usually even discussed within fasting circles.

1-day is fine. And may have some health benefits for some people:

Quote:
Water-only fasting reduces body weight, blood pressure, and lipolytic activity of fasting hypertensive patients without affecting average heart rate. Ramadan fasting enhances lipid profile, although it shows conflicting results for body weight, blood pressure, and heart rate variability. Considering the limited studies in this field, further research should be conducted to support the clinical impact of fasting on the cardiovascular health of patients with hypertension.

Rule of 3. You can survive 3 minutes without oxygen, 3 days without water, and 3 weeks without food.

You'd have a lot of Jewish people to argue with.

Most people, or all people, will be dehydrated after 24 hours without water. That can have implications for kidney function. Do whatever you want for religious purposes, but it's not a subject that's even tolerated on fasting forums.

Just like people will be empty/hungry after fasting from food. That doesn't mean its unhealthy. It's good to expose your body to controlled stresses (what exercise and a regular fast are) to make it healthier and stronger.

I thought they asked about water only fasting. To me that means you ingest only water and nothing else........you seem to be talking about not consuming water at all for 24 hours.

And, frankly, even if there was some study that said not consuming water for 24 hours has some health benefits, I still would not do such a thing. I can't go 10 minutes without taking a sip of water. I'm in FL and workout for 2 hours in a hot gym and also workout outside daily. No gracias.

Fasting IS "water only." A clean fast is simply water and nothing else. However, there are a very few (I've heard of a handful) who also go without any fluids including water. It's generally frowned upon.

When it comes to fasting, you have to be in good shape to do it... no ailments, diseases, etc.

As for going without water? I can't see that as being good for anybody. However if you are in top physical shape and don't do anything strenuous or live in a very hot climate, I don't see any real harm in trying to water fast for 1 day.

I personally would one day try fasting food... for at least 24 hrs. But yeah I will definitely drink water. No pop, no juice.

But I know for a fact that it will be difficult. Heck maybe even fast for 2 or 3 days if I'm not doing anything.

Just to see if it actually "cleanses" you.

7-days and I was not really hungry during that time, but I became obsessed with food.
