Over the last couple of weeks, I seem to be getting a lot tightening in my left calf. This will happen during casual walking, exercise or dancing. I played tennis yesterday for a couple of hours and I can barely walk on my left leg today, it is just so darned painful. Any ideas on what might be causing this and how to ease the pain? I'm dyin' ovah heah.

I'm no doctor, but it sounds like you've injured it and aren't giving it a chance to heal. I'd take a couple of days off from everything and do the heat/ice routine and see if it feels any better.
If it's a muscle cramp rather than an injury, the best thing I've found for that is a calcium and magnesium supplement. I used to have terrible foot cramps, but now I just eat two Tums every day and rarely have the cramps anymore.
Rest. Gentle stretching combined with an increase in your pottasium consumption may help. Use some heat on the area before exercising and ice immediately afterward. Dilute a sports drink with 50% water and consume it while you exercise to see if this helps.

Vinegar.
Sounds strange, but it works a miracle.
I first took it in the form of yellow mustard on a flight from Dallas, at the urging of a woman also prone to cramps.
Pickle juice will work as well.
One method I have not attempted is a 2:1 mixture of apple cider vinegar and honey, but I've read recommendations for it.
From what I've researched, the acetic acid in the vinegar helps to produce acetylcholine, which is a stimulant for the leg muscles.
Follow the tried and true "RICE" program for your calf: Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. Also, go easy on the exercise for awhile, I'd recommend NO tennis or any other sport that requires quick starts and stops; or any other type of plyometrics. Limit your exercise to walking or slow jogging, and only on soft surfaces. NO concrete--EVER! Asphalt is the hardest surface you EVER want to run on. (Concrete is 4 times harder than asphalt!)
Also--very important: stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water. Take some NSAIDs (Non-steroidal Anti-inflmmatory drugs--like Advil) for your calf muscle if you want.

As others have said, you may have injured it slightly. Stay off of it for a couple weeks. Then, as you get back into the swing of things, be sure to drink plenty of water and stretch beforeandafter your dancing/walking/exercise.
go to your local GNC, get taurine! Its cheap and helps with cramps, it truely works.
