If I know I'm going to be in bright fluorescent lighting, then I think it's only fair to those who have to see me that I put on a little paint. Or, if it's a really spiffy occasion and the fabric covering my backside is on the expensive side, then I'll put some on. Other than that, never.
I've always had great skin but still like to wear some make-up, although I seldom wear "full" foundation. And wearing makeup has never hurt my skin, so I've always had trouble understanding why others say it's bad. Any damage to my face is done from the sun more than anything else.
But nobody "has" to wear makeup for any circumstances if she doesn't want to. I've known lots of people who don't ever. In fact, people who don't, often don't know how to apply it when they do.
I had never been a good-looking woman, although my husbands thought I was. So I thought there was no reason to bother with makeup. However, over the last couple years, for some reason, I started looking better.
Was it the hair dye? Perhaps. The gray hair made every line, every wrinkle double visually.
Or was it that as one ages, the eyesight diminishes? Probably!
Was it that i have a more relaxed lifestyle since I left my old church. I think that is the answer.
So when I noticed that I looked better, I tried out some makeup. It really enhanced what I was suddenly seeing!
I went to a family reunion, and my sister commented that I had never been prettier. Wow, that did this ol' grandma some good!
So yes, Most of the time, I wear makeup when I leave the house. Especially yes to religious services and to work (even if I am the only one in the office at times). Yes to the grocery store or out to eat. Yes to most places. On rare occasion, I will run out without any. I figure that if small children don't run from me, screaming, I'm all right.
It stopped feeling necessary to me after about 15.
It doesn't occur to me to wear it now, to any occasion. I don't really see why I would. I think my skin looks fine.
Anyway, I can't put anything on my face ("hypoallergenic" facial cleanser, sunscreen, etc) without major inflammation so if I wanted to wear it I'd be out of luck.
I am uncomfortable wearing makeups anyway. I don't buy any makeups. but in some occasion. I have to wear makeup.
Last year, I attend my husband's company's christmas party. I am like the only weird woman that didn't wear any makeups.
Is there other occasion I have to wear makeups?
If you're going to be on TV. That's what I've heard anyway. I don't see a need for women to wear makeup.
I don't see a "need" for it, but you can do it if you "want".
The OP doesn't want to...and doesn't need to.
