So for me.......I remember the floaty dresses & flat boots in the middle of the 2000's AND bangles or chandelier earrings...........lots & lots of bangles. BUT the look Kate Moss started with skinny jeans & pointy flats or heels was my favorite...tho so many different styles of jeans were popular then......just like now. I also had a shrunken leather jacket I LOVED.
I loved jumpers or pleated skirts and knee socks. Think of the outfits that Ali McGraw wore in Love Story. Her outfits were really “in” in the 60s. Also, Cappezio flats with toe cleavage.
I was a teenager in the mid to late 90's and I was a goth then, and while I've grown more eclectic over the years, I still like goth fashion. The one thing I miss the most, and if I knew I'd never, ever be able to find another one like it, I would not have let it out of my sight...was my black leather trench coat. It felt like social armor. And it was a gorgeous coat. It was ankle length on me, no belt, had really deep pockets, and straight sleeves that were fabulously comfortable. It had some subtle patterned-suede patching around the shoulders if I recall, but it didn't really stand out. My Mom got it for herself in the 80s and gave it to me. I'm quite certain that it originally had shoulder pads, which I removed. I have searched and searched, in leather stores, thrifts, consignment shops, online...but I've never seen anything like it anywhere since. It was the kind of coat that a scrappy urban vampire would wear. *sigh*
I still have some cool old Tripp pants, though. Can't find 'em like these anymore, either. I don't wear them often now, because I've already worn one pair to the point that the fabric is thinning in several areas, and I don't wanna wear them out and destroy them.
One fashion look that I also wore sometimes, I was amused when it came back in the form of my teenage son and his friends... Flannel shirts open over band t-shirts, with jeans. Coupled with a love of grunge music. My son one day asked, "Mom, have you ever heard of Nirvana?" I laughed so hard at that. I mean, that's the music that was tiresomely overplayed on the radio and MTV back then...but to him, it was like some kind of an edgy novelty, a discovery of sorts. It slays me.
I graduated in 75. I LOVED the big, super wide "elephant leg" jeans, and if they were embroidered, all the better. I also liked the peasant tops, and also, I liked wearing tube tops under a button down shirt, with the first 3 or 4 (how daring did I feel?) buttons unbuttoned. The shirt would be tucked in, with a wide leather belt. And skirts were SHORT. Mid thigh was about the best my mom would let me get away with, but some girls wore these baby-doll outfits. I could not get away with that. lol
This sounds super cute........I love belts on low rise jeans & the retro style bohemian type tops that started like 5 yrs ago.............
Everything old is new again! Wasn't that a song?
