I'll end this by saying that I still like the art form on that starbucks tee. I love my starbucks coffee and will die without it. I'll take anything in starbucks. I even got a beautiful double walled glass mug for about 50 bucks once, becoz I love starbucks. It's a passion.

People buy van gogh and picasso for 100,000 dollars and more. Stupid? Insecure? Rembrandt can't buy happiness??

That's just laughable I'm an art geek. What better way for starbucks to make a tee shirt which looks like what they stand for - making good coffee. It's a refresher from their usual logo tees with the siren.

Populists, socialists and the like make me

blah, blah, blah, Your posts are suited for one person only-you. Most of us just don't agree with you. Let's leave it at that. You think the way you think and I think the way I think. I read two sentences and skimmed the rest for certain words and it was the same ole' post regurgitated over and over again.

I don't have a problem with you per se'. We just don't agree when it comes to certain things. Let's leave it at that. You are never going to change my opinion because I have come through life to garnish this opinion. And I don't even care to change your opinion. You are entitled to it.

This is off base. But did anyone see that stupid painting that Jennifer Aniston paid 400,000 for? It was just charcoal blocks on a larger size canvass. I would have payed someone five bucks to carry it away. But apparently she just thought the world of it. And I do understand art. In all it's abstracts. I took many courses on art at Buffalo State college which is a highly regarded credentialed art program. But once again, just because someone see's something of high value in what I don't. Doesn't make them right or wrong. I would have laughed at her paying that price for that hideous look of art, but I understood that the proceeds of that exhibit were going to charity in Africa. So no complaints there.

Dude, I understand, if I were struggling with two kids, a free-handed girlfriend and counting my nickels and grocery store coupons, I'd probably have the same anger-filled opinion as you. But take a chill pill, every dog has his day, as the saying goes. Just don't hate others becoz you don't have what they have. Spend some time and explore the siren on that T-shirt.

It's stupid for me to have 6 pairs of True Religion Denim that cost about 300 bucks each, but still choose to wear a pair of pretty worn-out shoes every blessed day.

But as long as it's at our own expense, then it's no big deal IMO.

Unless you're suggesting I spend my hard-earned salary on starving kids in third world countries.

I wouldn't buy a ready-made coffee-stained t-shirt though.

I agree...people should feel free to spend whatever they can afford as long as they are happy and it is within the realm of financial responsibility.

Difference is that I own it when I spend money on something ridiculously exorbitant. I don't try to play it up by saying it's art.

I'd have to disagree with this.

From the literal definition, it's pretty easy to conclude that a ready-made coffee-stained shirt is an artistic expression.

An opinion on its appeal is an entirely different story, but there's no denying it's 100% Art.

The absolute truth is, I can "afford" it. I'm snobbish about clothing and I'm sorry I'm not sorry for it.
Sad thing is that a lot of that expensive stuff is made outside the USA dirt cheap then people pay more than 3 times what is cost to be made.

They're made in India, China and Bangladesh, mostly.

Apple makes the iPad in China at a fraction of the cost. Yet, who in that long queue of crazed apple maniacs cares? They still purchase it to this day

Good grief! If I want a coffee-stained T-shirt, I can certainly stain it myself!

Sorry. I am denying it. What makes this shirt art, pray tell?

It's a form of decorative art. The intent is for it to be aesthetically pleasing, and it delivers to some people.

If ready-made torn-up denims, ready-made paint-stained t-shirts, asymmetrical dresses, asymmetrical hairstyles/haircuts, and a whole list of other things I deem incredibly ugly, can be considered artistic expressions, then why in the world would a ready-made coffee-stained shirt not be considered Art?
