I usually try to buy Express jeans because they have short and petite. When I buy jeans from other places I usually have to have them hemmed up so I want to save that money. Sometimes I can get jeans from Old Navy, Kohls and The Limited.
Most of my collection consists of Lucky Brand, Buffalo, and Michael Kors; but I have a couple Levi's and my overall collection ranges from non-specific brands to Hudson. I like having nicer jeans for the designs and fit, but others that I won't care if I ruin, or are otherwise non-descript.
FWIW, I'm not a jean snob. I have yet to pay more than $80 on a pair, and average around $30-35. Even my Hudsons were clearance.
Lucky Brand used to be very good, made well when they were made in the US but alas since the company shipped that off shore the Lucky's of today are no where near the Lucky's of 15 years ago
I have been purchasing Faded Glory jeans at Walmart for years and have never been disappointed: good fit, never shrink, and low price (usually around $12/pair).
Express, Limited, Old Navy (some of my favorites are from here), Levis, and various others.
I used to buy premium denim, but grew out of that phase, and came to my senses. Still have a few pairs I wear that are J. Brand and Paige, but not particularly crazy about them.
Lucky, Guess, and Levi's mostly. So many jeans have such tacky pocket designs or they are poorly cut. Today's Diesel jeans are what Levi's used to be in the 70's and 80's.
Used to buy only Levi's but since moving to NC have found locally made Texas jeans which are just as good or better quality then Levi's and the regular price is $30.00.

That's definitely something I've noticed. Part of it is probably the need to ensure others around the person wearing them know what brand they are.
I guess I've never understood "style" for jeans. Jeans are not an article of clothing I ever considered stylish, maybe because I grew up on a farm in Iowa. We wore jeans out of necessity; they were cheap, durable, comfortable, and easy to throw in the wash at the end of the day.
It kills me when I see people buying $100+ jeans, I don't understand the point. Those expensive jeans are probably of lesser quality than my $27 Wrangler's. I bought Levi's once but they don't fit as well on me.
My one pair of Big Star jeans were $120 or $140 and it killed me to buy them, but my girlfriend twisted my arm. I've probably worn them a handful of times and while they're comfortable...they feel "cheaper" than my cheap jeans do. The fabric is lighter and thinner and I'm always scared they'll rip or tear.
When I was to wear something stylish, I put on my suit or a nice pair of Dockers. And I'm 32 years old so not old by any means, I must've missed the period when jeans became a stylish thing to wear.
