Its a mens wedding band, 14kt gold from the 70s.

It has another silver band outside the gold and Im wondering if a jeweler would put platinum on a 14kt gold band? or would it just be normal silver.

The silver is not tarnished and its been in my attic for a long time, it also has light scratches on it and dented easily when pressed a nickel on it.

I know sorry im not a jewelry kind of guy.

I dont know if they would bother putting platinum over 14kt, but then again it is a wedding band.

any ideas?

Thanks for any help.

It is most likely a combination of 14kt white and yellow gold.

Tiffany does it with certain items. Does it have a name or numbers on the inside part: 750 950? Probably many high end do as well Cartier etc.

This is most likely.
Platinum would not dent as easily as you say that ring does.

Thanks guys for the help. It was marked 14kt inside but nothing mentioning the other metal.

I ended up taking it down to a local jeweler and its 14kt gold/white gold.

It is somewhat similar to item: HE884 ywy on that link posted but the silver doesnt have all the engraving on it.
