Haha seriously? Maybe it's the part of the whole dorky/geeky = cute thing these days...I also notice some hipsterish girls dressing like Velma from Scooby Doo, too...funnily enough they're also more likely to identify as sexually ambiguous.
Yes- this^. Never understood why people put up with having frames that restrict their field of vision.

Personally I loved my big sunglasses in the '80s, and now that I have to have reading glasses, I love the wide field of vision. Only bad thing would be the bigger the glasses, the heavier.
I know it is fashion and I understand that, but I am seriously considering photoshoping my frames because they hid a lot of my youthfull face back then. We really didn't have a choice back in the 80's and contacts were either faily new or the hard type. I for one couldn't handle either because even the soft ones did damage to my eyes.
I guess because I would have rather seen my full face in pictures, that I have this thing about them now...knowing what will happen thirty years from now.
I do get geek is sexy, since I was always a geek but didn't look it.

If I was lucky enough to afford big sunglasses because they were RX ones I would love those, the field of vision thing when we are older is nice and my glasses have to be a certain size because of bifocals. But to me to obscure your youthful face with these rims when it is not needed is placing yourself in the position I am in now, wishing I had not and wanting more of my face revealed.
The pity of the matter is that my kids never really got to see mom or grandkids see grandma's face without these huge things.
Hopefully fashion is fast paced and this doesn't matter. To me it is just something that surprises me because I am currently trying to do something about it.
I have a fat face,so the big glasses slim it down some;same with my big nose,it slims it down.
I personally hated the small frame,metal glasses.
I also like them because I get to wear my thick,false eyelashes underneath and also they hide dark cirles and sunken eye hollows.
