Stocky isn't the same as chubby, imo. Stockiness is mostly a genetic trait, a stocky person might be muscly/big-boned or thick-set but not necessarily chubby/fatty.
But no, we're too PC, a fat person is fat, chubby.etc. No need to call them 'lard-bucket', but enough with the silly euphemisms like 'big boned', 'large', 'curvaceous.' etc
In my opinion, calling a guy "chubby" is equivalent to indirectly criticizing him for being a fat slob (I call this veiled insulting). It implies that he has little to no attention towards physical fitness. What are your thoughts. Do you also feel that calling a guy "chubby" indicates something unattractive about his physique.
For the Record, I always HATED being called chubby. But it is the bitter truth.
What difference does it make? Some people are chubby. It means a little overweight. If it's accurate, I don't see the problem. It's not necessarily an insult, just a description.
Well, I never thought I have great legs until I was complimented for them a month back by my buddy . Trying to get the rest of my body in shape now. My BMI is 25.7 (was 27.9 earlier this year). I am not excessively overweight. Just look fatter than others with the same BMI due to higher body fat %.
the reality is that nobody cares about legs. you need to get that upper body in shape. if you are at that BMI, you could really do a diet for a couple of weeks and you would see a significant difference. people are just unwilling to put in any real effort when it comes to diet. my oats diet would work magic in a month.

calling a woman fat names is demeaning, calling a guy fat names is cute and affectionate.
its the old double standard that just wont die.
It hasn't always been this way. 100 years ago calling a woman 'fat' was not offensive at all, it was just descriptive. Then the whole 'skinny is fashionable' trend started and women started getting so conscious/sensitive of their body image.

You need to work out your whole body, not just the upper body, or else you won't look in balance.
I've heard of guys whose nicknames were "Chubby" and that's all they were known by. Better than being called "Tiny".
