That's just it. Why is it okay to say she's "fat and gross" but if someone says the same thing to someone who IS fat and gross people get all upset? Is it because she's actually beautiful (with small waist and flat stomach) and people are jealous? I'll say the same "oh, she's fat and gross" about Adele, or any generic fat picture posted here and people are all like "oh that is horrible to say" and "that is extremely rude for you to say that". Cracks me up.

Kim K = Not fat. definitely not gross.

Rebel whats-her-name, Adele, the Judd chick = Fat. Gross.

She is what I would call a beefy gal, not Fat by any means. A satisfying portion of meat right there.

Fat is the point where your tummy is seen as a sagging parabolic projection outward.

1. I dont ever tell anyone theyre fat but if they ask me i'll tell them they could stand to lose a few pounds.

2. Shes pretty but she could stand to lose a few pounds (if she could).

Because Kim K is less likable than Adele. It isn't ok to call anyone a fat a, but people are generally more approving of rude names if it is someone they don't like or respect.

Take the lovely Marilyn Monroe:

Certainly, by today's standards she'd be considered "plus sized" and lots of men would view her as fat. Yet at the time she was considered by most to be the epitome of beauty and very few men would have considered her "fat". It truly is amazing how times have changed.
At least two of the photos you posted are stretched so Marilyn looks wider. And ideas of "fat" go in and out of style every decade. The "Flapper Girls" body style that preceded Marilyn Monroe and other voluptuous pin up girls was very thin, and considered the ideal of their time. The 60's Twiggy who was also very thin preceded Anna Nicole Smith as the "Guess Girl" who was somewhat voluptuous and considered the ideal of her time. Then Kate Moss, the Supermodels, etc.

It's whatever idiot in charge of the fashion world at that time deems important as to what is considered "fat". If you care.

I didn't underline ASS for no reason. Her ASS is fat and gross. Not her face, not her torso, not her legs. Her ASS.

AND...it's on purpose!

Marilyn Monroe was not that big. The idea that she was a size 16 is a recent myth...you can blame Roseanne Barr for that. Marilyn Monroe was 5'5" and her weight ranged between 118 and 140. Marilyn Monroe real dress size, measurements, weight? really size 16? So maybe she wasn't stick thin like the current ideal, but she was not plus-sized.

If you ask someone "does this make me look fat?". Then you're fat. You're asking to be lied to.

In other words: It's OK if you belittle someone based on appearance, but not OK if someone else does it.
