I'm black but very lightskinned and people routinely mistake me for being hispanic. When I was younger I used to work at a hospital in city with a high Puerto rican and Dominican population. Twice during that time I was dragged into a hispanic patient's room by a nurse who wanted me to translate. Neither time did it ever occur to the nurses that I didn't speak spanish fluently. Both were shocked that I was not hispanic. I also cannot count how many times people approach me and just start speaking to me in spanish. One guy at a package store swore up & down that I was lying to him about not being able to speak spanish. When I look in the mirror I don't see where all of the confusion comes from.
My ethnic backround is 100% Lithuanian. I have dark brown hair and green eyes, but over the years, oddly, have been frequently asked if I am Italian or Greek.
I'm of English and Irish/Scottish descent and I've been mistaken for being Asian before because I have kind of narrow eyes and a bit of a flattish nose.
I am pretty much Jamaican, Mohawk, and Brasilian. Depending on the region, most people think I am Dominicana, Boricua, Blasian, Brasilian, half Black/half Mexican (here in TX), and White/Black.
Ladies and gentlemen, first off I hope my question is clear to you.
Have you ever been mistaken as a person of different ethnicity owing to skin tone or facial features. Frequently, other people have mistaken me for being Hispanic, although my actual ethnicity is south Indian. Has this scenario happened to any of you as well. Just wondering, and I have absolutely no discriminatory intentions here.
sure: I've been mistaken for Russian, Greek, Hungarian, Slovak and British.
I have an indian guy at work who's been mistakened for a Latino or the other way around.
In Hawaii I was sometimes taken for local Hawaiian, Fijian, Tongan or Samoan or some local part-Hawaiian mix. In Los Angeles a Hawaiian restaurant owner thought I was a famous hula teacher come from the Islands to visit him. In Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic people think I'm from there. Two Chinese women asked me if I were part Asian (I am, just a bit).

As a black Latino, I'd just say..........that I'd have to see a picture of you to comment.
I'll see what I can do about getting a profile pic up.
Actually you do look like a lot of Latino people I know. I could definitely see you at a family reunion, for instance. In PR you would be addressed in Spanish all the time.
