Wranglers. For some reason thought about those today. I think I had one pair that my mother bought me back when I was 11 or 12 years old. Never had much of a desire to try them. They seem terribly uncomfortable, but maybe I'm wrong.
I used to prefer Carhartt pants. Made for comfort at work, this casual fit jean sits somewhat beneath the waist and elements a relaxed-fitting seat and thigh.
I am not overweight, but as a senior citizen, I refuse to wear jeans that let half of my wrinkled behind hang out, or jeans so tight it cuts off the circulation behind my knees when I sit down. Levis used to make a style, 550s, that were slightly relaxed and were not low rise, not Mom jeans either. First they added spandex. Okay, I'll forgive that, I guess. Then they did away with them completely in favor of skinny jeans or something called "find your curve". I'd have to wear something 2 sizes larger than I normally wear in pants so they wouldn't look painted on. That would be okay too but if I did that, the waist would be so big, I'd have a ruffle of denim hanging over the top of my belt.
Try LL Bean. They work well for a mature figure. My 72 year old step mom who is only a size 8-10 and 5'6" lives in them and they look great on her. She also swears by Talbots.
Go to a few thrift stores and find some different brands of jeans on the rack. Most a reasonably priced. Then, you can take some home, wear them around, and see if they work for you. I am finally able to get back into jeans...and it feels wonderful!! I got so tired of fighting the fat weight, and I was one BIG muffin top.
5'2" women ..age 50+......can't carry overweight as well as younger ladies. I've got maybe 40 lbs to go.
Yesterday, for the first time ever I bought a pair of jeans that weren't Levi's. I bought a pair of Silver jeans, and they are without question the most comfortable jeans I've ever worn. I still love me some Levi's, but my loyalty to them has been rocked. If only Silvers were a bit cheaper.
DH wears Lee, he went away from Levi's when the production went overseas. It seems that the fabric is cheaper than it used to be.
Myself I love my vintage Lucky brand jeans. They are made in USA, have a higher cotton content and are med/high waist and boot cut. My least favourite pair of jeans right now are a pair of Levi Signature straight leg jeans. After a few washes and dries (mostly on the line) the spandex has started to break down and is actually itchy on the leg.
I've never had much luck with Levis. Even their low-rise sits right underneath my rib cage... although I suppose that's more my fault than theirs. I just found a pair of Express jeans on my thrift store binge yesterday, and they look amazing; perfect pocket placement. Can't wait until it's cool enough outside to wear them.
