It's not a functional "scarf" that actually does anything (like keep you warm), or even a lightweight one that livens up an dreary outfit. I'm talking about the big, heavy LOOPS of fabric that hang around the neck, usually to the bust line (thus not keeping the neck warm) and often piled on top of several other layers of patterns, so it's not to break up monotony. It's like a fabric necklace, only as big as a blanket.

Maybe it's to hide the bust? Or rest a broken arm???

Just seems ridiculous to me yet, like sheep, everyone jumps on the fashion bandwagon.

Scarves make more sense than ties. Or nylons. Or 5 inch heels.

Like anything else, if you don't like it, don't wear it.

Seems simple enough.

Seeing a fashion, liking it, and wearing it doesn't make you a sheep or a bandwagon jumper.

I like the way infinity scarves look on some people, however I can't pull it off. My daughter wears them occasionally and they look great on her.

Now, if I wore them knowing they looked ridiculous on me just because they're the "thing to have", then I'd be a sheep. IMO.

I guess everyone's different. You know, the old "opinions are like belly buttons.....".

A functional scarf, yes, but not these. Ties signify formality, nylons hide flaws and add warmth, and heels define the calf and attract men. These scarves? Baffled!

The function is to add a nice pop of color to an otherwise plain outfit.

Well, I don't have any and I don't dress in a way that would make sense to use one (bc I am shorts/jeans and t-shirts/sweaters), but I kind of like them. Maybe the people I see wearing them around here know how to make them work.

*shrug*

^^ I'm not much of an accessorizer myself, either. So many things look cute, but I'm not convinced I can pull them off. Scarves included.

Heels actually define the posterior of a fit woman. In contrast, Kim K looks like a pig on stilts. Lots will disagree but so be it...beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

But even THAT is functional (you're supposed to whip off that bandana to mop up your sweat)... I guess if you find yourself in an airport with a delayed flight, you could use the "giant cloth around the neck" to cover up up for the night in a chair.
