I think it's great that it can be done*, but for cosmetic reasons, ugh.

My son developed a tumor on his knee when he was 14. The surgeon said that there was a possibility (slim) that the growth plate could be damaged.

My daughter tries to use being short to her benefit. She thinks she gets special privilege because of it. Her aunt is very short also so I don't think she see's it as much of a hurdle anymore now that's tall enough to ride the rides she wants.

She can date 100% of all men. I can date about 10% of available men because I am too tall for most.

She can have the luxury of having a type.

Isn't that something?

extending limbs sounds crazy.

This is such a HUGE over generalization.
People were doing limb lengthening for reasons many for long time, bullying or not. Good 'ol Elizarov made a fortune when he developed his apparatus for fractures treatment just to find out that it also works great for giving girls long legs, eternal sex symbol.

lol! #tallgirlproblems

I had that issue. When people tried to set me up (which I happily entertained), my first question was always, "ya, ya, but what's his height?"

My guy best friend kept teasing me about the fact that I friend zoned him because he's shorter than me. Yes, call it shallow, but I simply wasn't attracted to him because he's shorter.

Fast forward to now though, I'm almost half a foot taller than my husband, go figure haha.

Aside from dating, I wished I am shorter. I don't like the attention I get when I walk in and people notice how tall I am. It's also mainly because I'm Filipino. There are Filipino ladies taller than me, but the average is about 5ft? It's almost rare to find a female that's my height, so when they see me, I stick out...literally.

Reading the article and seeing the pictures made me squeamish.

I hope the people who go through such procedure finds happiness...permanent happiness, because who knows what else they can be insecure with and find a procedure for.

My daughter doesn't. She wanted the furniture in her room to be comfortable for a short person and she didn't want a comfort height toilet in her bathroom, but otherwise she doesn't ask for anything extra. She has a step stool that she stands on when she cooks dinner and she'll take it to other rooms if she needs to reach something.

Her feet got big enough for women's shoes and I bought her a couple of pairs of wedges and platforms, but she said they don't make her tall enough to be an average height and they're not comfortable, so she didn't see a point in wearing them.
