Thirty years ago, my friend's son went to Scotland for a semester, while he was in college. When he got off the plane, he had an earring. She was stewing, and stewing about it, and finally got the courage to ask him, "Jeff, does this mean you're gay now?" She was really worried it was his way of telling her. He wasn't, though.

Rationally, it shouldn't make any difference. But in truth, in reality, jewelry and other such adornments do make men look less masculine. But that's ok.

They like earring(s).
They may or may not be gay.
They may or may not be trying to say something else that no one knows.

It's for sure one of those three.

Well, people are animals at heart, and in the animal kingdom it's usually the male with the flashy colors and ostentatious displays.

I'm guessing it means they are men who wear earrings, in Berkeley... and probably anywhere else they go.

Rules for earrings don't apply anymore. A lot of men wear them now. I am not one of them that does.

Wearing an earring only in your right ear used to be a potential way of signaling that you were gay. Nowadays you can just be like "Hi, I'm gay," so it's not such a thing anymore.

Earrings in both ears just means you like earrings.

OK, but what does it mean if you are wearing two earrings, or just on one side (right, left).

I am asking this question because I've seen many men wear earnings, and some of whom wear it on one side.

On the other hand, many told me that wearing earrings do not have to do anything with sexuality.

I would like to hear your comments, please.
I've never seen a man or woman wearing their earnings....who advertises their income?

Men and women wear earrings. No biggie. Doesn't mean anyone is gay. Means they like earrings. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Some never grow out of that phase, they remain stuck in perpetual adolescence. This accurately describes a good chunk of under 40 liberal voters.
Totally not true at all! I'm in my 40's and I have dark purple hair.....why? I like purple and it sure as hell beats my natural grey hair!

Same here. I have 3 earrings and had a nose ring but it closed up. I've dyed my hair every color available having once dated a stylist that loved me as a test case.

Especially my beard. My natural color is red/white/grey/black, it looks much better one color.

But if you look back historically, men of any rank would wear flash jewelery. They wore big stones since it show up with the flashy clothes. It meant they had the rank and power and wealth to do it. Women also wore jewelry, generally flashy and for the same reasons men did. Nobody thought it made me more feminine, just claiming what was theirs for all to see.

Today, women can wear their hair short, dress in jeans and boots and tees, and be absolutely sure they are not gay. Men can have long hair, have earrings and other 'female' styles, and also be sure they are straight.

I took to wearing only on fancy earring years ago. The other one has a small silver ring to keep the hole open. But I make earcuffs that fasten into the earring and put in little things which jingle. What does it mean? That I like the flash, but also as loyalty to the best star trek ever, DS9 as it is the style the Bajorans wear, both sexes.
