Shorts are pretty popular in DC and Baltimore. Just make sure your shirt mixes well or you’ll look nuts. I remember me and my partners got into a fight with some super yuppies up in Baltimore who had long sleeve button down shirts and dress style shorts on. Those 4 punks looked like the poor man’s Backstreet Boys with that mix.
Neat is attractive. I like the look of long sleeved-shirts with shorts, with the shirt sleeves casually rolled up to the elbows. I do not like short sleeved shirts rolled up, though.
And legs? Oh yeah, I'm one who appreciates men with muscular calves.
Eh, sometimes it's about finding the whole person attractive on average.
Personally, I don't really find my SO's legs that attractive... and he wore shorts the second time I met him, so it's not like I fell in love with his personality before I saw his legs. but I will take long skinny bird legs on a man with character over well-built legs on a d-bag any day of the week.

I assume they are only going for physical attributes for this study, but I am far more interested in the non-physical attributes...sense of humor, intelligence, kindness, areas of interest and compatibility, etc. Legs? Meh. Never even look at a guys legs, literally the very last physical thing I would look at or be impressed by.
If pressed to select among a group of men solely on the physical, and each had only one remarkable physical attribute and all the other body parts were average or below (i.e this guy had great arms, that one had a great butt, etc), I would go for the one that had a nice strong chest with the wide shoulders, narrower waist configuration.

I was going to guess and say; eyes?, followed by hairy or not hairy? Some ladies like guys that can easily grow a full beard some don't and want the more hairless, or metrosexual type?
As a woman this is the silliest thing I ever heard. What always catches my eye towards a man is their eyes and smile and often their hair. Bald is ok if they look good and aren't trying to cover it. But eyes and smile are what really counts because I believe it shows their personality.
No real surprise there. Same fundamental reason men are attracted to women with a specific waist-hip ratio. Proportion and symmetry are the basis for much of what the world finds beautiful.
They had to do research to figure this out? I'd say a nice tight butt would be a close tie. Usually if one is nice, so is the other.
What I've observed is, that if a person has some naturally good-looking features, they may be more apt to take the actions necessary, to improve themselves physically, all over. There's nothing like getting favorable responses from others, to inspire one to work even harder, at getting themselves buffed-out.
